We SOOOO rocked the marina!

We did it! After all of our training my sister and I ran 13.1 miles. We woke up very very early in the morning and headed down to Long Beach. Rockin' The Marina II was a very low key half marathon. By low key, I mean there were less than 20 participants, we registered with a lady in a van who gave us a number and told us to yell it out to here every time we completed a lap, and our "well marked course" were little arrows written in sidewalk chalk on the street. That being said, we really had a lot of fun! Our course consisted of three 4.6 mile laps. We are clumsy by nature and each tripped a few times. Kim almost fell into a parked car, but luckily was able to regain her balance. I however, was not so fortunate. After gracefully meeting the sidewalk, I had to continue running another 2 miles before reaching the first aid station.
We finished with a time of 2 hours and 44 minutes....right about what we had anticipated. We were thrilled to receive our finisher's medals and proudly wore them the entire weekend. After the race we finished with with a breakfast of champions.....sprinkle doughnuts.

And after 13.1 miles, we had to top it off with lunch at Tommy's. Look at those greasy chili fries...YUM, what a piece of heaven.
We trained for this race virtually with our cousins Nicki and Tarin. They ran the Salt Lake City half marathon a few weeks before our race and did a great job. We couldn't have gotten as far as we did without them. Their encouragement throughout our training really kept us going. In honor of them, we wrote their names down our arms so that we could all "run together". We hope to run a real half marathon with them next year.
